

Ruth (Kochert) Quinkert, 92, of Lanesville passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Providence-Diversicare Retirement Home in New Albany. Ruth was born April 20, 1924 in Lanesville and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Bertha (Hess) Kochert. She was a graduate of the Lanesville High School Class of 1942 and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville. She was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and a volunteer at the old Providence Retirement Home. After high school Ruth was employed at the family-owned Kochert Feed Mill. She then went to business college and was a bookkeeper and teller at First Federal Bank in New Albany. She married John Joseph Quinkert on April 24, 1954 and was married for 60 years. For a short time she was a volunteer bus driver for St. Mary’s Lanesville Church transporting students to Providence High School in Clarksville. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, playing euchre and canasta, traveling with her friends, entertaining her grandchildren and on occasion a beer or glass of wine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John J. Quinkert on August 8, 2014, and also by two brothers, Maurice and Paul Kochert, and a sister, Pearl Engle. Ruth will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Daughter: Sara Wiseman (Marty)
Sons: Terry Quinkert, Andy Quinkert, Steve Quinkert (Becky), Jack Quinkert
(Jean), and Alan Quinkert (Karen).
Grandchildren: Zac (Amy), Christopher, Daniel, Simon, Nick, Jacob, Ellie Quinkert, Tiffany
Norton and Seth and Drew Wiseman.
Brother: James Kochert (Suzanne)
And many nieces and nephews
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm Monday, August 1st, and after 8:00 am Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday August 2nd, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Lanesville with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
