Stanley R. Bowling

STANLEY R. BOWLING, 84 years of age, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at The Villages at Silvercrest. He was born in New Albany on February 22, 1932 to the late Russell and Catherine (Ball) Bowling. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and Indiana University and served his country in the US Army. He was retired as the manager of area development of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce and served as manager of the New Albany Chamber of Commerce from 1958 until 1962. He was a member of Central Christian Church and a longtime member of Lodge #270 Elks Club in New Albany. Because of his interest in community planning, he was appointed and served on the New Albany Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals for some 30 years. Stan had a lifetime interest in sports, military and historical affairs, and not least of all, his collection of read and many re-read books.

Survivors include his wife Beth of 60 years, and their daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Roger Klepacki.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, October 2nd at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Monday, October 3rd at the Kraft Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
