Beloved mother and grandmother, Suzanne (Wolford) Tyler, passed away at the age of 84 on Thursday morning, December 10, 2020 in her hometown of New Albany. She was born December 30, 1935, the only child to the late Nelle (Lancaster) Wolford and Marvin Wolford in New Albany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Tyler.
Suzanne graduated from New Albany High School in 1953, where she met her future husband, Jerry Tyler. Following high school, Suzanne worked as an executive assistant at The Bankers Bond Company in Louisville. In 1964, she chose to leave her position but continued to utilize her management skills as a stay at home mom for Shari, followed two years later by Scott, and three years later by Mark. She devoted herself to her family making innumerable sacrifices along the way.
Suzanne was a fan of all sports, and while she remained a loyal follower of her New Albany “Bulldogs”, she was a great supporter of Providence High School, where her children attended. She also followed college sports and her faithful allegiance to the Notre Dame football and basketball programs will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Above all else, Suzanne enjoyed spending time with family and her many grandchildren, who endearingly called her “Grammy Sue.” She loved getting together with family and friends on all holidays, but Christmas was her favorite, not for the gifts she received, but for the joy she experienced in giving to others.
Suzanne was also an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for over 50 years. She will be dearly missed and those who loved her will cherish her memory and the caring and self-less nature she exemplified.
Survivors include her children, Shari (Tyler) Baughman, Scott Tyler (Alison), and Mark Tyler (Kim); grandchildren, David, Lexi (Zach), Jake, Jack, Mitchell, Kate, Paige (Noah), Cameron, and Morgan, and great grandchild, Elliott.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, followed by her Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
