Thomas Frederick “Fred” Williams, Jr.,76, died Thursday, July 18, 2019. The son of the late Florence Catherine (Meyer) and Thomas F. Williams, Sr., Fred was born January 23, 1943 in Gatesville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, John Thomas Williams.
Fred was a 1961 graduate of Providence High School and let everyone know, “I was first in my class”, and graduated from Bellarmine College in 1966. He retired from Prudential Insurance Company and then worked at Holy Family Catholic School where he acquired the name “Mr. Fred”. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. Mr. Fred had a passion for coaching and did so for over 46 years. He loved golf, basketball, and was a HUGE fan of Notre Dame. Mr. Fred left a lasting impression on many young athletes and students. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sue (Klumb) Williams; children, Tammi Levandowsky (Nick), Cassi Hogge (Steve), Zack Williams (Crystal), and Elyce Lovett; grandchildren, Breanne Levandowsky, Jake and Riley Hogge, Chloe and Carson Williams, Christian Willis, Katlyn Stump, and Jaren, Isaiah, and Elijah Lovett; siblings, Judy Gnadinger, Don Williams, Larry Williams, and Mary Kaye Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 pm ~ 8 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. There will be a Rosary Service at 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. His Funeral Mass will be 11 am Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany. Private burial of his cremains will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park at a later date.
