Tom was born on October 1, 1954 in Corydon, Indiana to Herbert Goble Metz and Naomi Ruth (Austin) Metz.
He worked at Louisville Gas & Electric for 29 years before retiring for health reasons. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 2100. He loved his faith, family, and was an avid golfer for many years. He also loved IU basketball, and was a member of Northside Christian Church in New Albany.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Margie (Metz) Hazelwood, Gerald Metz, and Lloyd Metz.
He is survived by daughter, Beth Ann Salisbury (Erick); sons Evan Metz (Courtney) and Aaron Metz (Hali); grandchildren, Alexander and Marissa Salisbury, Owen and Cora Metz, Anderson Metz, and Grayson Ashcraft. He is also survived by siblings, George Metz (Sue), Phyllis Ann (Metz) Moe (Bob), Roger Metz (Kristi); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 22 from 4pm-8pm at Kraft Funeral Home (2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Tom's funeral service will be on Saturday, August 23rd at 10:30am. A private entombment will follow the funeral at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
