Valera Lee (Thomes) Bishop

Valera Lee (Thomes) Bishop, 83 years of age died Monday October 22, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born April 16, 1935 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Paul and Irene (Charles) Thomes and was the widow of Johney B. "Dick" Bishop who died in 1993. Valera was a lifelong resident of the Borden Indiana community, a member of the First Christian Church in Borden and a wonderful dedicated homemaker, and babysitter affectionately known as "Miss B", "Momma", and "Miss Bishy." She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Christeena Ramirez, brother Lowell Thomes, and Helen Thomes.

Survivors include five children, Conrad Bishop (Evelyn), Belinda Miller (Ronnie), Wendel Bishop, Kent Bishop (Melissa), Karen Schneider (Mike); 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren; half-brother, Donnald Thomes; two cousins, Ardys Reed and Sharon Ann Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday October 26, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road in New Albany, Indiana and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 27, in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
