Valerie Dempsey Spann, 70, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away January 16, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 13, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Jeffrey L. and Virginia Crawford Dempsey. She was retired from the Clarksville Community School System where she was the beloved elementary librarian. She was active in the Alumni Association and Booster Clubs. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and was active in several bible studies. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Jeffrey L. Dempsey and Terry W. Dempsey.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James D. Spann; three children, Jennifer (Kirk) Flispart, Travis (Amy) Spann and Sunnye (Brad) Troutman; sister, Jan Dempsey; grandchildren, Emma, Nolan, Carley, Avery, Lucy and Lennox; her cat, Buster; grand dogs, Murphy, Willow and Bella; sister-in-law, Sara Cole; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncle.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
