Wesley G. Porter, 86 years of age, entered Eternal Life on April 23, 2021. He was born April 16, 1935 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Glen and Ruth Porter. Wes served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a teacher, baseball and basketball coach at New Washington, Henryville, and Borden High Schools, and Principal and basketball coach at Graceland Christian High School. He built houses in the summer and loved spending time golfing, taking fishing trips to Canada, and flying his private airplane. Wes served as the President of Silver Heights Camp in New Albany, President of the Clark County Zoning Board of Appeals, and a member of the Borden Lns Club. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gary Gentner; infant granddaughter, Lindsey Gentner; brother, Bruce Porter; sister, Virginia Knight; and brother-in-law, Jim Bright.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Bright) Porter; daughters, Gena Reining (Ed), Lisa Gentner; grandchildren, Lauren and Madison Gentner, Morgan, Preston, and Macy Reining; great grandchild, Addison; and sister, Sheila Harrell.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 27, 2021 and 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. His funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in the funeral home chapel.
