

Alice Cecile (Languirand) Bernier, 96, of New Bedford, a recent resident of Our Lady’s Haven went home to God on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from Covid 19 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard J. Bernier with whom they shared 67 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late William and Diane (Audette) Languirand. She was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph's Church. For many years Alice and Jerry were actively involved in the Marriage Encounter Movement.
Alice graduated from N.B. High School and attended the Swain School of Design. She was employed as an accomplished artist & fashion illustrator at Cherry & Web, Wings and later for Alan Adas.
Alice’s life was devoted to her husband and her children. She was happiest when she was spending time with her large family. She enjoyed family celebrations & outings, vacations, and always looked forward to holiday gatherings. She was the heart of our lives & has been an inspiration to us all. Her deep faith sustained her throughout her life. She leaves us all with the memory of her lovely smile and legacy of faith, love and generosity.
She is survived by her 7 children, Diane Marie Fry and her husband, Raymond of Sebastopol, CA, Janet Jasinski and her husband, Gregory of E. Freetown, Robert Bernier and his wife Therese of Acushnet, Raymond and his wife, Lucia of Roswell, GA, Paul Bernier and his partner, Trine Erichsen of N.B., Norman Bernier and his wife, Ida of Colorado Springs, CO. and Lorraine Pittsley of N.B. and her late husband, James; her 14 beloved grandchildren; Allayna Fry and her husband, Aaron, Shannon Fry, Jennifer Moniz and her husband, Christopher, Carolyn Jasinski, Christine Dedrick, Michael Jasinski, Veronica Bernier, Nicholas Bernier, Danielle Lord, Jonathan Bernier and his partner, Amber, Darcie Bernier and her partner, Nicholas, Marshall Bernier, Elycia Pittsley, and her fiancé, Justin, and Andrew Pittsley; and 8 precious great-grandchildren; Isabella, Xylia, Evan, Nate, Kate, Shea, Angelique and Avion. She was the aunt of Paul Languirand, Marcel Tablas and Marianne Languirand, Ph.D. She was predeceased by her 4 siblings, Viola Tablas and Alfred, Albert and Annette Languirand.
Due to restrictions all services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA A ‘Celebration of Alice’s Life’ will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities or for Memorial Masses in Alice’s name.
