

Born in Sao Miguel, a son of the late Jose and Gilda (Pereira) Correia, he immigrated to the United States in 1981.
Mr. Correia worked as a Forest Ranger in Sao Miguel for many years before moving to New Bedford, where he worked as a Fish Lumper, for several years before retiring.
He enjoyed gardening, reading his bible, spending time with family and hanging out with his friends at Friendly Donuts in New Bedford.
Survivors include: 8 children, Helena Aguiar and her husband Rui of Toronto, Jose Correia and his wife Vanessa of Dartmouth, Roberto Correia and his wife Lidia of New Bedford, Alvaro Correia and his wife Debra of Dartmouth, Helder Correia and his fiancé Melissa Pacheco, Luciana Correia and her fiancé Will Gonzalez of New Bedford, Marcia Brisson and her husband Jason of New Bedford and Monica Correia-Cabral and her husband Marco Cabral of Sao Miguel; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, all of Canada; 7 sisters also of Canada and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Giselia and Didia Correia.
His funeral will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 8 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his funeral mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours, Wednesday 4-7 PM.
