

Antonio S. Magalhaes, aged 66, passed away on February 4, 2025, following a period of declining health. Born on July 17, 1958, Antonio came to the United States at the age of five. He grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and lived in Rochester for many years before moving to Plymouth three years ago. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
Antonio was a dedicated store manager at several retail chains until his retirement. He was a devoted husband to Jacqueline (Davey) Magalhaes. Antonio was predeceased by his parents, Firmino B. Magalhaes and Ana P. (DaSilva) Magalhaes, his late son Matthew R. Magalhaes, and his brother, Jose Magalhaes.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey R. Magalhaes, and daughter-in-law, Christine Fucci. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Jessica Langevin and her husband Christopher, Ashley Leighton and her husband Luke, Kyle Shea and his wife Stephanie, and Cameron Shea and his wife Arantza. His siblings include Edite Menezes, Armindo Magalhaes and his wife Maria, Orlando Magalhaes and his wife Dora, Aida St. Aubin and her husband David, Dulce Demers and her husband Herbert, Ossie Magalhaes, and Hilda Moreau and her fiancé Mark Clark. Antonio was a proud "Vovo" to Skylar and Benjamin Magalhaes and a cherished "Papa" to Madison, Jaxson, Isabella, Liam, Adeline, Collin, Cooper, and Wesley. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Antonio was a fan of New England sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins, and enjoyed playing sports in his younger years. Known for being very family-oriented, spending time with his family brought him great joy. Antonio's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial is private.
