Bernice Asencio

Bernice Asencio, age 61, of Quincy, MA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Bernice found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was her regular visits to Dunkin’ donuts, her love for shopping, or the generous way she spent her time and resources on others. She also loved spending time with her roommate’s weather watching a movie, playing broad games, and talking about their day. Above all, she will be remembered for ability to make people laugh and a unique gift for brightening up a room.

Born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Laura Asencio, she is survived by her two sons: Edwin F. Santiago and his wife Noal Santiago of New Bedford, and Jason R. Santiago and Teresa of New Bedford; and ten grandchildren Madyson, Jordan, Donovin, Sebastian, Namyjah, Eezanii, Daniel, Julian, Julia and Zayvian. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
