Candis M. Genard

Candis (Deslaurier) Genard, 71 of Acushnet passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family following many years of illness. Candis was the daughter of the late Raymond & Gwendolyn (Wherty) Deslaurier born and raised in Acushnet where she resided for the majority of her life. Candy was the wife of the late Robert Genard with whom she spent 46 wonderful years. She spent her working years as a hairdresser at Nichol’s House Nursing Home and a bartender at Café Roma. Nothing made Candy happier than spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Nicole (Genard) Gagne and her husband Mark, and son Shane Genard and his wife Karry Pineault; her grandchildren Desiree (Genard) Alves and her husband Emmanuel, Cade Genard and his longtime girlfriend Hailey Medeiros, and Travis Genard; her great-grandchildren Gavin, Cameron, and Adeline; her sisters in law Priscilla (Genard) Chasse, and Florence (Genard) Desroches and her husband Conrad; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Candy was predeceased by the love of her life, parents, brother Michael Deslaurier, Mother in law Delima (Darcy) Genard whom she loved dearly and brother in law Phillip Chasse Jr.

In accordance with her wishes, Candy will be cremated and laid to rest beside her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Her funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday May 13, 2023 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church located at 440 Main Street in Fairhaven. Her family will receive visitors from 9am -10am prior to the mass.
