

Chester Hudzik, a lifelong resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 11, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on October 6, 1928, Chester was known for his humorous and happy nature, often bringing joy to those around him with his love for jokes.
Chester was a proud graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, class of 1946. After completing his education, he embarked on a successful career as the New England District Manager at Nestle Company until his retirement. Following his retirement, Chester found joy in being the first greeter at Walmart in Fairhaven, a role he loved.
Chester was married for 62 years to his beloved wife, Alice (Wilk) Hudzik, who preceded him in death. He was the cherished son of the late Boleslaw Chudzik and Wladyslawa (Rafalowska) Chudzik. Chester was a devoted father to his three daughters: Susan Gillespie and her husband Edward of Dartmouth, Deborah Marks and her late husband Michael of New Bedford, and Judith Kelly and her husband Michael of Wimauma, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Aimee, Matthew, Darcie, Julie, Adam, and Jenny, and a great-grandfather to twelve great-grandchildren. Chester is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Leonard Hudzik, Stephen Hudzik, Stanley Chudzik, Sophie Kalife, and Genowefa Chudzik.
Chester had a passion for bowling, which he enjoyed well into his 90s. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of baseball and football, and he relished watching old western movies. Chester's joyful spirit and love for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 9:30-10:30 am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt.
