

Christine Claire Comeau, age 76, of New Bedford, passed away on July 3, 2025. Born on February 4, 1949, in Acushnet, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Christine (Lemaire) Charpentier. Christine was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Christine was a dedicated receptionist at SRTA. She was married to her beloved husband, William Comeau, for 40 years. She is survived by her son, Michael B. Clapp, and her stepchildren, Christopher W. Comeau and Andrea Kaniecki, along with Andrea's husband, Paul. Christine was a cherished grandmother to Alexander D. Comeau, Keely A. Clapp, Katherine Maribito and her husband, Ryan, and a great-grandmother to Owen Maribito. She is also survived by her sister, Lea Charpentier, and was predeceased by her siblings, George Edward and Gerard Charpentier. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Christine was an active member of the Board of Governors of the Alpha Association and was known for her work as an editor and military researcher. She contributed as an editor to the book "Duel with the Dragon at the Battle of Suoi Tre". Christine was the First Lady of the Alpha Association and organized their reunions. Christine was a volunteer for many local veteran organizations, including the DAV, VFW and the American Legion. She treasured all of the veterans with whom she worked for and they appreciated her efforts on their behalf. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, playing games on her iPad, and occasional trips to the casinos. She loved country music and met many close friends at local dance clubs who remained in contact over many years.
Her Funeral will be Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
