Cristina Rego

Born in Faial da Terra Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Francisco Barbosa and the late Maria Conceicao Barbosa she grew up there before immigrating here to live in America. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mrs. Rego worked many years as a stitcher for Calvin Clothing. In her spare time, she enjoyed cleaning, cooking, and spending precious time with her family, especially her two granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Brian Rego and his wife Marina of Acushnet; two granddaughters, Brianna and Jocelyn; siblings, Teolinda Fonseca of New Bedford, Conceicao Rezendes of New Bedford, Noemia Almeida of Fairhaven, and Jose Barbosa of New Bedford.

She was the sister of the late Maria J. Resendes of New Bedford and Isabel Cabral of Canada.

Her funeral will be Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA 02745.
