

Cynthia E. (Lord) Arruda, 77, of Jupiter, FL and formerly of Acushnet, MA passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her cottage home surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Richard A. Arruda married 38 years. Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Ernest and Edna (Grew) Lord, she lived most of her life in Acushnet.
A graduate of Bridgewater State College, Cynthia taught school at Marie S. Howard School, Acushnet Elementary School, and Long Plan Christian Nursery School, and managed Arruda’s RV Repair.
Cynthia and Richard wintered in Florida at Lion Country Safari KOA Campground for many years. Cynthia enjoyed square dancing, skiing, camping, motorcycle rides, gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a military Mom and Grandmother, helping to raise her grandsons for 11 years, also living in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and Texas.
Survived by her children, Sherri LeVan and her husband Douglas of College Station TX, Amy Arruda Williams and her husband Carl of Jupiter, FL, and Eric Arruda and his wife Christine of Acushnet, MA; 9 grandchildren Kyle, Kody, Robert, Lauren, Phin, Julia, Mason, Bryce, and Jack; siblings Wendy Dion of Kingston, MA, and Rick Lord and his wife Pamela of St. Petersburg, FL. She was also the sister-in-law of the late Jay Dion.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Funeral Service, Saturday, April 20th at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Acushnet Cemetery.
