Dorothy Taber Hartley

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Patnaude) Taber, Mrs. Hartley lived most of her life in the South Coast area until recently enjoying the winters in Florida with her husband.

Dorothy was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School and Cape Cod Community College. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 40 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Nicole Hartley of Attleboro; 4 step-children, Mark Hartley of Assonet, Shawn-Ann Schafler and her husband Jonathan of Elkins, WV, Dana-Lyn Hartley and her husband Lon Mackey of Vero Beach, FL, Matthew Hartley and his wife Stella of Point Roberts, WA; 2 grandchildren, Brianna Arruda and Jack Arruda, 8 step-grandchildren, a sister, Linda Taber of DeLand, FL; 3 brothers, Kenneth and his wife Diane of New Bedford, Dana Taber and his wife Sandra of New Bedford, Gary Taber and his wife Nancy of Newburyport, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 26,2012 at 9 am at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Mt Pleasant Street, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, from 4-7pm. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are in the care of ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA.
