

Edward J. Demers, 75, of Acushnet, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. He was the husband of Francine A. (Rivet) Demers with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Acushnet and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Brouillette) Demers.
He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and proudly served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.
Mr. Demers had worked as a Supervisor at the Acushnet Rubber Company for 41 years until his retirement.
Edward was an avid golfer, loved watching NASCAR and spending time working in his yard.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Donna M. Blanchard and her husband Michael P. of Rochester; a son, Michael R. Demers and his wife Christine of S. Dartmouth; a sister, Theresa Weiland and her husband Joseph and a brother, Roland Demers and his wife Maryann all of Leonardtown, MD; three grandchildren, Nathan Lewis, Corbin and Audrey Blanchard; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Demers.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8pm.
