Filomena D. Rodrigues

Born on February 22, 1929 in Flamengos, Faial, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio Tavares and Maria Medeiros, she then lived in Praia do Almoxarife.

She attended school, got married and started a family in Faial then later coming to the United States in 1980, where she worked for many years as a seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and got great joy cooking every day for them and also enjoyed sewing as a hobby.

She is survived by two sons, Jose H. Rodrigues of Faial and Francisco F. Rodrigues and his wife Adelia of Lakeville, MA; two daughters, Rosa M. Silva and her husband Fernando of Everett, MA and Filomena M. Novoa and her husband Edwin of Moore, SC; ten grandchildren, six great grand-children and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Maria, Gilda and Alda Medeiros and Antonio and Jose Tavares.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 9:00AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle St. New Bedford.
