

Gerard R. Rousseau, 83, of Fairhaven passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 in his home with his wife at his side. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette B. (Legere) Picard and the former husband of Janet Kelly of Fairhaven.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Louis N. and Lucille (Deslauriers) Rousseau he lived most of his life in Fairhaven. Gerry served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served onboard the USS Elokomin and USS Altair.
Mr. Rousseau worked in the central office of New England Telephone for 39 years and 3 months. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 166 in Fairhaven. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janice Robert and Lynne Caron and her husband Steve of Fairhaven; two sons, Gerard R. Rousseau, Jr. of Fairhaven and Paul L. Rousseau and his wife Roberta of New Bedford; a brother, Leo Rousseau and his wife Pat of New Bedford; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; one niece and two nephews. He was the brother of the late Claire Rousseau.
His memorial mass will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10 am in St. Anthony’s Parish, 22 Barstow St., Mattapoisett. Burial will be private.
