Born in Arthabaska, Quebec Canada, she was the daughter of the late Reza and Zelpha (Noel) Bellefeuille. Gertrude was the devoted wife of the late Roland Robidoux, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage.
Gertrude was a homemaker—but so much more. She lovingly raised eight beautiful children and built a home rooted in faith, family, and tradition. She prayed her rosary every day and watched Mass on Sunday. Family was her strength and foundation, and she instilled strong values and cherished traditions in her children. Thursday nights were reserved for family gatherings, which included a walk and dinner, a weekly event that remained close to her heart.
She was known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Gertrude lived for time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, visiting casinos, hosting yard sales, dining out, and being resourceful and crafty. She lived by the words she often repeated: “Make do with what you have.” Humble and selfless, she never wanted to be a burden to anyone.
She is survived by her loving children: David Robidoux and his wife JoAnn of Dartmouth; Louise Taggie and her husband Ben of Dartmouth; Vivian Tavares of Swansea; Laraine Trahan and her husband Gary of E. Freetown; Paulette Deakin and her husband William of Acushnet; Roland Robidoux and his wife Kathleen of New Bedford; Robert Robidoux and his wife Nannette of Florida; and Janet Fryzel and her husband John of Dartmouth. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Silva of New Bedford; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Eugene Tavares, Sr.; granddaughter, Wendy Tavares; her siblings George, Eddy, Armand, Charles, John, and Gaston Bellefeuille; Beatrice Gelinas, Simone Dumas, Marie Jeanne Langevin, Jacqueline McCormick, and Martha Thomasset.
The family sends a very special “thank you” to all the staff at Alden Court Nursing Home and Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care.
Family will be receiving guests from 9:15am to 9:55am, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Thursday, January 29, 2026 in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road, East Freetown, MA 02717. BURIAL IS PRIVATE.
