Gilbert I. Mello

Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose and Maria (Soares) De Melo he lived most of his life in Acushnet. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Mr. Mello worked as a truck driver for Murray’s Asphalt. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, cookouts and most of all being with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gilbert Mello and his wife Lynne of Fairhaven, Stephen J. Mello of Acushnet, and Christopher S. Mello of Acushnet; three grandchildren, Joshua, Stephen V., and Trisha M. Mello; one great granddaughter, Emma Jean Mello; three siblings, Joe deMello, Edie Souza, and Dennis Mello; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Connie Frias, Tiny deMello, Eddie deMello and John Mello.

His funeral will be Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet.
