Grace M. Girard

Born in Wareham, Mrs. Girard lived in Fairhaven for 49 years. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Costa and Louise (Sylvia) Costa.

Grace worked as a press operator at the Acushnet Rubber Company and was a waitress at Gaudette’s Pavilion. She enjoyed being a homemaker, playing cards, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved being a Girl Scout Leader and taking trips to Foxwoods.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children; Patricia Merritt and her husband Travis of Fredericksburg, VA , Susan Blom and her husband Kees of Somerset, Gary Girard of Fairhaven, Mark Girard and his wife Linda of Fairhaven and, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard Costa, William Costa and Barbara Tuttle.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11 am at the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Tuesday prior to the service from 9-11 am. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to the Southcoast Hospice, 200 Mill Road, Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
