
Born in Almagreira, Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Joao Freitas and Maria Virginia Freitas, she came to the United States in 1973 and settled in New Bedford.
Mrs. Amaral was an excellent cook and prepared delicious Portuguese dishes for her family. She loved gardening and spending time in her yard. She loved watching her Sunday Mass and reading her Bible.
Guiomar loved spending time with her loving family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Delia DaSilva and husband Custodio, Alda Paiva and husband Manuel, Noemia Mariano, Ozzy Carvalho and significant other Marie, Eddie Carvalho and wife Dacia, Manny Carvalho and wife Judy, Luis Carvalho and wife Alice, Joe Carvalho and significant other Lana, Tiofilo Carvalho and wife Catarina; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Joao Carvalho, Carlos Albert Carvalho, Julietta Carvalho, Maria DoCarmo Carvalho and Gualtar Carvalho; and her siblings, Manuel Freitas and Helena Freitas.
Private funeral services are in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
