Helen R. Samagaio

Helen R. (Sylvia) Samagaio, born on March 11, 1953, in New Bedford, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 72. A cherished, devoted, selfless, and kind-hearted individual, Helen touched the lives of many throughout her years.

Helen was the beloved daughter of the late John and Alice (Karajohn) Sylvia. She graduated from New Bedford High School and pursued further education at Bristol Community College and later Fisher College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business. Her professional career was marked by her role as an Inside Sales Representative for Zapp Precision Strip.

In her personal life, Helen married the love of her life, Domingos J. Samagaio IV, with whom she shared over 48 wonderful years. Family was her main priority, pride, and joy. She enjoyed skiing, dining out, swimming in the pool and at the beach, and taking vacations. Helen took great pleasure in attending her children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Domingos, her loving daughter, Lora Raposo, and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, as well as her stepson Shad Samagaio and his wife Michelle of New Bedford. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jarus Samagaio, Jase Samagaio, Aubrey Raposo, and Nathan Raposo. Her sister, Nancy Godlewski, and her husband David of New Hampshire, along with several nieces and nephews, also survive her. Helen was predeceased by her sister, Johanna Sylvia-Leahey.

Helen will be remembered with deep respect and admiration by all who knew and loved her.
