Helen M. Vincent

Helen Mary (Robinson) Vincent of North Dartmouth died on January 8, 2022 at New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the wife of Raymond Joseph Vincent and daughter of the late William and Mary (Williams) Robinson of New Bedford.

Helen was born in New Bedford on November 10, 1930. She graduated from New Bedford High School in 1948 and Dean Academy in Franklin, Massachusetts in 1949. She went on to Fitchburg State Teachers College where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree and from there, Bridgewater State Teachers College where she received her Master’s. She taught at Crapo and Padanaram schools in Dartmouth and then, the Tomas R. Rodman, John B. DeValles, and Abraham Lincoln Schools in New Bedford until her retirement in 1989.

Mrs. Vincent and her husband were a founding family of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth. She lived her life with grace and took great pride in her faith in God. She was patient, kind, gentile, and full of love for all her students, friends and especially her family. Helen was always positive and happy and her smile brought joy to all who knew her.

Helen was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, Retired Educators Associations of Massachusetts and Bristol County Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her son, Stephen A. Vincent of Assonet and her daughter, Maureen T. Vincent of Meriden, CT; one brother, William C. Robinson of New Bedford; several nephews; four grandchildren, Sheri Vincent of Fairhaven, Derek Vincent and his wife, Nateasha Vincent of Assonet, Andrea Tyler and her husband, William Tyler of Fairfield, CT, and Melissa Manfield and her wife Judith Manfield of Branford, CT; and five great-grandchildren, Ariana and Kaiden Vincent of Assonet, Logan Tyler of Fairfield, CT, Dominic Hoyos and Sofia Chaves of Branford, CT. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond J. Vincent, her brother, John F. Robinson and wife Joan (Grimshaw) Robinson, and her great grandson, Nicholas R. Hoyos.

Her visitation will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.
