Jennie May Rothwell

Jennie May Rothwell, 83, of Fairhaven, died Sunday, November 30, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a beautician and had her own salons, first on Bates St. in New Bedford then on Middle Road in Acushnet for many years.

Survivors include: granddaughter Nicole and her husband Gregg and their children, Alexander and Alyssa. Also siblings Frederick, Shirley R. Cabral, Danny, Richard, Franklin and Donna Bergeron; many nieces, nephews, cousins, sister and brother-in-laws, and one aunt, Lillian (Clapp) Sylvia of CA.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Mildred (Clapp) Rothwell, her son James Thorpe; grandson, James Jr.; sisters, Shelia, Dorothy Gifford, Noel Fisher Schultz, brother, Kenneth and ex-husband, Stanley Thorpe.

Her family is very appreciative of the loving care she received while a resident for many years at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitative Center.

Per Jennie’s wishes, services will be respectfully omitted. She will be cremated and her ashes scattered in the waters off Fort Phoenix, Fairhaven at a later date. Each of us who knew her are now left to remember her in our own way.

Arrangements are in the care of the ROCK Funeral Home, New Bedford.
