Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Eugene and Joanna (Ferreira) Costa, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Joanne was employed as a shipper for Coyne Industries prior to her retirement.
Joanne loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, gardening and had a great love of animals. She was a member of the Teamsters, local 59.
Joanne is survived by her son, Glenn Munroe and his wife Karen of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Shawn Munroe and his wife Michele, Matthew Munroe and his fiancé Lani and Dustin Munroe; her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mason, Aidan and Ginny; a sister in-law Rosemary Costa and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Mark and Brian Munroe and sister of the late James, Eugene and Ernest Costa.
