Joao G. Raposo

Joao G. Raposo, 79, of Dartmouth passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Angelina (Cabral Andrade) Raposo with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael, a son of the late Manuel A. and Mariana (Do Rego) Raposo he grew up there before immigrating to America. He was a member of Calvary Ministry, Fall River.

Mr. Raposo worked as a laborer for Algar Construction. In his spare time, he would often be found playing with his grandchildren or spending time going here and there with his best friend, his wife Angelina. The family always said they were inseparable.

Joao was a devoted Christian, and he always looked forward to church services. He was also extremely gifted at building anything and working on his lawn. Mr. Raposo was always on the move keeping himself busy with his projects.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Maria Couto of New Bedford, Antonio Raposo of Dartmouth, Paulo Raposo of Fairhaven, Teresa Lobo of Dartmouth, and Sonia Raposo of New Bedford; and 12 grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Danny Camara.

His visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2026 from 9-11 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
