Jorge Luis Valentin

Jorge L. (Lil Grass) Valentin, age 70, of New Bedford, Massachusetts passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in Mass General Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Leslie (Costa) Valentin.

Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Jose Valentin Sr survived by his wife Martha of Youngstown OH and his mother’s Isabel Cruz. Jorge served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sargent. He was a welder at General Dynamic and Titleist prior to his retirement

Jorge loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed family trips to New Hampshire, NASCAR, fishing, camping, grilling and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; a fond memory was the Great Fishing Debacle.

In addition to his loving wife Leslie, he is survived by his children, Nickol Valentin and her husband Malik Perry Sr. of New Bedford, Maya Valentin of New Bedford and Jorge Pagan of PA; his grandchildren, Malik Perry Jr and his partner Helen Rivas, Eamon Perry and Niya Bolola; a great-grandchild, Malik “MJ” Perry, 3rd; his siblings, Jose “Lil Jay” LeBron and his wife Mayra of New Bedford, Miriam Valentin of OH, Betsy Valentin-Boukrad and her husband Lassan of OH, Elaine Valentin of OH and James Valentin of OH. He was the brother of the late Jose “Pep” and Santos “Big Grass” Valentin survived by his wife Aida Valentin of Brockton. He had many nieces and nephews and few great ones too.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:00AM in St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 565 County Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
