Jose Eduardo Moniz

Jose E. Moniz, 77 of Acushnet, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, in his residence with his loving family at his bedside. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Bernardo) Moniz to whom he shared 54 years of loving marriage.

Born in St. Miguel, Portugal, he was the son of Manuel and Angelina (Pacheco) Moniz. Jose attended school in St. Michael and then late proudly served in the Army of Portugal. He was employed as a landscaper prior to his retirement for D Schumacher landscaping Inc.

Jose loved his family dearly; he enjoyed his morning coffee from Dunkin, working and tinkering around the home. He was also an avid Benfica fan.

Besides his wife Elizabeth, he is survived by his children, Susan Moniz and her companion Michael Farpea of New Bedford, his twin sons, Robert Moniz of Acushnet and Jason Moniz of New Bedford; a brother, Carlos Moniz of New Bedford. He was the father of the late Stacey Lee Moniz.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
