Jose F. Rodriguez-Torres

Jose F. Rodriguez-Torres, 80, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Olga Hernandez Ortiz, with whom he shared nearly 25 years of marriage.

Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Teodomiro and Carmen (Torres) Rodriguez. He lived in Yauco, Chicago, and California before moving to New Bedford seven years ago. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

Mr. Rodriguez-Torres worked as a chauffeur for several years until he became ill. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. In his spare time, he could be found making cabinets, spending time with family, or traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Erick Lopez of New Bedford, Hiram Lopez of Florida, and Jose Rodriguez and Ivan Rodriguez, both of Chicago; as well as his grandchildren: Erick Jr., Gabryella, Gabryel, Luke, Jeremy, Vincent, Nicholas, Dariany, Victor, Ruben, Hiram, and Jaileen.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Burial will be private in Puerto Rico.
