

Joseph P. "Joe" Demers, a beloved, hard-working, and wise individual, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on August 16, 1964, in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Wilfred Demers and Patricia (Hayes) Fal. Joe was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. He was the loving fiance of Lisa Carlson.
Joe proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany, as well as many other duty station. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (Ssgt). One of his proudest military accomplishments was being in charge of giving out Fire Direction, a very important and tedious position. His military service was a source of pride throughout his life.
A devoted father, Joe is survived by his daughters, Michelle Demers and Jennifer Demers, along with her fiancé, Curt Nitzsche. He was a brother to Peter and Fred Demers, and he is predeceased by his brothers, Paul and David Demers.
Joe was the proud owner and operator of JD Glass Company, Inc. for more than 40 years. He was a dedicated business owner who enjoyed working. His personal interests included being an avid sports fan, enjoying trips to the casino, and cooking for his loved ones. He also cherished traveling with the love of his life, Lisa. Joe was also very involved as a former Call Firefighter for the town of Fairhaven.
Joe's legacy as a devoted father and friend to many will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He resided in Lakeville and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:00AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
