

Laura A. (Duval) Pelletier, aged 88, passed away on February 8, 2025 at home following a valiant battle with dementia for over 10 years. Born in New Bedford on December 3, 1936, Laura was the beloved daughter of George Roland Duval, a Union St. Railway Bus Driver, and Juliette (Gelinas) Duval. She grew up in New Bedford, where she raised her family and later resided in Rochester, Massachusetts.
Laura attended St. Anthony Grammar School and St. Anthony High School before pursuing further education at Northeastern University, where she obtained her Insurance License and Broker License. She was the proprietor of Brooklawn Insurance Company.
At the age of 16, Laura met her high school sweetheart during a class outing to Oak Bluffs. She married Roger A. Pelletier in 1956, and they shared a loving marriage for 68 years. Laura is survived by her husband Roger and their children: David A. Pelletier and his wife Rochelle of Acushnet, Denis A. Pelletier and his wife Lisa of Rochester, Daniel A. Pelletier and his wife Natalia of Lakeville, and Suzanne (Pelletier) Rebeiro of Bonita Springs Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Duval Hubert, seven grandchildren, Ryan Pelletier, Jeffrey Magalhaes, Kyle Pelletier, Alex Pelletier, Taylor Pelletier, Maggie Pelletier and Kasey Pelletier and seven great-grandchildren, Drew, Gavin, Skylar, Juliana, Benjamin, Emilia and Cooper. She was predeceased by her grandson, Matthew Magalhaes.
Laura enjoyed summers at her summer home on Long Pond in Lakeville and wintered at her home in Cross Creek Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida, for 35 years. An avid golfer, she achieved two holes in one and participated in the Women's League and Couples Club. She was a model for the annual fashion show in Ft. Myers, Florida, and served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Laura was a dedicated parishioner of St. John Neumann Church in E. Freetown and, along with her husband and other couples, started the original St. John Neumann family festival in the early 1980s. She also directed the show "The Way We Were" for the church.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd, E. Freetown on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 9:00 am followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
