Born in Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Irene (Costa) Rebelo, she and her husband immigrated to the United States in 1972. She worked as a Machine Operator with Tweave in New Bedford and Norton, MA, for 32 years until her retirement in 2004.
She was a loyal communicant of Immaculate Conception Church who enjoyed word search, puzzles, reading, knitting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. DaCosta is survived by her four children, Ana Nunes of Dartmouth, Tony Costa of New Bedford, Luis Costa and his fiancé Heather Dupont of Fairhaven, and Luisa Marrone and her husband Paul of New Bedford; grandchildren Shantelle Knoll and her husband Al, Kayla Nunes, Jasmyne Soares and her husband Terel, Jocelynne Johansen, Jenna Costa, Nickko Gomes and his wife Kristen, and Jesse Gomes and his wife Dedra; great-grandchildren, Jayden Nunes-Medeiros, Gabriella, Alayna, and Zachary Knoll, Senna Soares, Emmett and Brooklynn Johansen, Meelah Gonzalez, Landyn, Benjamin, Grayson and Parker Gomes, and Finlee Johansen is on the way.
She is also survived by her siblings Maria Zelia Costa of Acushnet, Carmelia Cabral of Dartmouth, Raquel Canto of New Bedford, Herman Melo of Acushnet, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manuel Rebelo.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
