

Born in Colebrook, New Hampshire, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Frank Hawley and Doris Covell. Lorraine spent her childhood in Colebrook, New Hampshire where she loved skiing, ice skating, reading, building forts, going to school, and spending her time in nature.
Lorraine was employed with the Acushnet Company for over 50 years, until her retirement. She was a lifelong, avid gardener, she loved flowers and animals, especially rabbits and birds and would often have a blue jays visit her porch to enjoy a peanut that she had left on the rail. Lorraine always enjoyed cooking new recipes and was always known to prepare a traditional family meal every Sunday, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Lorraine also enjoyed spending time with friends at the local VFW in Acushnet, MA., where she loved dancing, listening to music, or attending the meat raffles.
She is survived by her three children: Peter Cook and his longtime companion Jayne Housewright of Acushnet, Steven Cook of Lakeville, and Victoria Brownell of Assonet; nine grandchildren: Kevin Cook, Michelle Swansey, Bridgitte Bala, Kristy Cook, Cheryl Cook, Sarah Pitta, Steven Cook, Thomas Brownell, and Carrie Ann Brownell; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late William Cook.
Her Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her burial will be private.
