Born in Portugal, a son of the late Soledade Maria de Barros, he grew up there before immigrating to the United States.
Mr. Barros worked as a baker for Butter Bread Bakery until its closing.
He is survived by his cousins, Olinda de Barros of New Bedford, Lou Bernardo of E. Freetown, and Connie Avelar of New Bedford who were his caregivers; several relatives in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Brazil.
His visitation will be Friday, April 10, 2026 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
