

Marcel T. Ducharme, age 87, of E. Freetown passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Moore) Ducharme to whom he had shared 63 ½ years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Henry and Yvonne (Dupre) Ducharme he grew up in New Bedford and lived most of his life in E. Freetown.
Mr. Ducharme served in the United States Army during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Mr. Ducharme worked at Continental Screw and later as Head Store Keeper at U Mass Dartmouth. He enjoyed gardening and working outside. He loved fishing, nature trails and raising animals. Marcel was a member of the VFW Post 6643. Mr. Ducharme was a loving man who loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Henry Ducharme and his wife Yvette of Rochester, Steven Ducharme of E. Freetown, and Dianne Ellis of Lakeville; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Michael Ducharme and brother of the late Gerard, Laurier Ducharme, Jeannet Roy, Fay Labelle and Florence Sandiford.
His funeral service will be Friday, February 13 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Visitation Thursday 5-8 p.m. Burial will take place Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:15 p.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
