Born in Sao Miguel, Acores she was the daughter of the late Francisco de Medeiros Machado and Maria Francisca Arruda Furtado Machado. Maria immigrated to the United States in 1974 and worked in the local garment industry until her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two brothers: Francisco de Medeiros Machado and his wife Armenia of New Bedford, Luis Manuel de Medeiros Machado and his wife Anna Maria of Lisbon, Portugal and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Pedro George de Medeiros Machado and Fernando de
Medeiros Machado.
Her visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, from 8:30am-9:30am immediately following will be a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary’s Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. For tributes and online registration:
