Mary Rocha Braz

Mary R. Braz, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2017 at Our Lady’s Haven after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Joseph N. Braz with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Born and raised in East Bridgewater, Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Custodia Rocha, and was one of six children. She graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1943 and went on to work for the government.

After marrying Joe, Mary moved to Rhode Island and then Swansea, MA where they raised their children. In retirement, she enjoyed winters in Florida where she liked to golf, play cards with friends, dine out, and take trips to the casino. Whether in Massachusetts or Florida, she most loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her two children, Debbie Buckley and Joseph Braz, Jr., and their spouses Steve Buckley and Meredith Braz. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kara Lenz (and husband Andrew), Christopher Buckley, Daniel Braz (and wife Sara), and Jeremy Braz (and wife Cassie), as well as seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady’s Haven for their wonderful care of Mary in recent months.
