

Maurice “Moe” A. Meunier, 85, of New Bedford passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 with his family at his side in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Aldea (Secour) Meunier, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage and their wonderful family.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Paul and Leda (Blanchette) Meunier he was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Meunier served with the United States Army in Korea and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and three bronze stars. After retiring as an Insurance Agent from Prudential Insurance Co., Moe enjoyed working part time for Goyette’s Auto Parts making deliveries. He was an avid duckpin bowler, enjoyed golfing and spending summers at Lake Noquochoke and Long Pond. Moe liked to keep up with the local athletics especially the sports involving his grandchildren. Most important to Mr. Meunier was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Joanne Romanelli and her husband John of Acushnet; four sons, Robert Meunier and his wife Michele of Acushnet, Marc Meunier of E. Freetown, Paul Meunier and his wife Robin of Rochester and Dennis Meunier and his wife Terri of E. Freetown; a daughter-in-law, June Meunier of Acushnet; a sister, Pauline Gadbois of New Bedford. He was also adored by his 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Bryanne and Kristen Meunier, Jenna Douglas, Kara Meunier, Jillian Sullivan, Caroline Correia, John, Emily and Ted Romanelli and Noah Meunier; two great grandchildren on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Donald Meunier.
His funeral will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 9 am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., E. Freetown. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 pm.
