Muriel Mae Barksdale

A lifelong New Bedford resident, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Dora (Patnaude) Yell. Muriel worked as a housekeeper at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home. She was a member of Mass Senior Action and enjoyed being with her family and socializing with friends.

Survivors include 3 sons, Richard Barksdale of New Bedford; Thomas Barksdale and his wife Susan of New Hampshire; Donald Barksdale and his wife Danielle of New Bedford;3 daughters, Heidi Barksdale-Westgate of Fall River; Susan Hunt of New Bedford; Diane Barksdale of New Bedford;10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Judy Barksdale and Charles Barksdale. She was the sister of the late Leo Yell and Bernadette Fleury.

Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. A memorial service at the FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 764 Hathaway Rd. in New Bedford will be held on Sunday August 4th at 1:00pm.
