Norman Philip Boudreau passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 79 years old on July 6th, 2021 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Within minutes, he was surrounded by the people who deeply loved and cared about him including his beloved wife, Virginia (Alcantara) Boudreau, who he has loved and dedicated his life to for 14 years; his 5 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, who enjoyed the warmth and comfort of his presence during his lifetime. Norman is the father to 7 loving children, Joanne (Boudreau) Brightman, Cheryl Boudreau, Sasha Boudreau, Norman Boudreau Jr., Derek Boudreau (deceased), Angela Alcantara, and Erika Alcantara. Norman, the oldest brother to his six siblings who he loved and cherished, grew up in the loving care of his parents, Antoine J. and Blanche (Deschenes) Boudreau in New Bedford, Massachusetts, but later moved to Fall River, Massachusetts. He was the former Treasurer of the New Bedford Local 377 Union as well as a member of the Fall River Rod and Gun Club. Norman graduated from New Bedford Public High School and later on, successfully gained his Real Estate license. He worked as a distribution supervisor at Cliftex Corporation in New Bedford for 25 years and continued to maintain the professional level at other companies.
Norman had many hobbies; everybody knew that he loved and lived life to the fullest. As an early teen, he started collecting a variety of antiquated things. He was a sports enthusiast and played every sport there is; he could have probably competed in the Olympics. He enjoyed swimming, running, baseball, ice hockey, football, basketball, and most importantly, golf. Norman was an avid golfer who played for 40 years with his close friends and brothers who he had known and loved for years. He kept all memorabilia he earned from golfing amongst other athletic hobbies he procured in his lifetime. Golfing with his friends on most early mornings of the week and coming home with a home-cooked meal prepared by his wife was what made him the happiest husband and friend. Being on the phone with his siblings to catch up with life is what would make him laugh the hardest while watching television, and the proudest brother to all of his siblings. Lastly, to see his children walk on their own feet to live their life happily and successfully is what made him the proudest man, and most importantly, the proudest father.
“Dad loves you. I’ll see you later.” is what he would say.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joanne (Boudreau) Brightman, Norman Boudreau Jr., Cheryl Boudreau, Sasha Boudreau, Angela Alcantara, and Erika Alcantara; his siblings: Muriel Gouveia, Donald Boudreau, Arthur Boudreau, Robert Boudreau, Gerard Boudreau, and Jacqueline Halunen. He was the father of the late Derek Boudreau.
May he rest in peace.
His graveside service will be on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 at 10 a.m in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 559 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford, MA. For online tribute or directions, please visit www.rockfuneralhome.com
