

Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on January 20, 1928, Olga was the beloved daughter of the late Domingos Guerra and Madeline (Oliveira) Guerra. She was raised in a close-knit community and carried those values of hard work, humility, and kindness throughout her life.
Olga dedicated many years of her career as a textile worker at Vanity Fair. In her free time, she loved to sing and sang on the Portuguese radio in New Bedford, contributing to the Portuguese community’s cultural life.
Her nephews and nieces hold fond memories of spending summer vacation with her and their grandparents, creating unforgettable moments swimming and playing at Horseneck Beach.
She will be remembered for her love of animals, especially cats, her gentle spirit, her resilience, and the warmth she extended to those around her. Olga found joy in life’s simple moments and leaves behind a legacy of kindness.
She is survived by her four nephews, Lloyd Mendes and his wife Mary Ellen of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Guy Mendes and his wife Lauren of Fort Myers, FL, Ralph Mendes and his wife Dorcas of Bonita Springs, FL, and Michael Guerra of Fairhaven, MA, 4 nieces, Lisa Mendes and her husband, Spyros Kalams of Nashville, TN, Debra Viveiros of Port St Lucy, FL, Jacqueline Barriball of Fairhaven, MA and Susan Pacheco and her husband John of Venice, FL. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Olga is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Estela Mendes, and brother Jayme Guerra.
Her visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2026 9-10 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. A funeral service will held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. For online directions and to leave a tribute: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
