Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura (Blanchette) Higgins, she had resided in E. Freetown for the past 52 years.
Mrs. Stevens had worked at Cape News for many years, Point Oil, Humphrey Oil and later years, retail at JC Penney and Kmart.
She enjoyed gardening, family, decorating for the holidays and her close friends Shirley and Denise.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Surprenant of Rochester; her brother, Kenneth Higgins of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Sarah R. Feeney and Amanda L. Shute and her husband Andrew of Maine; several nieces; her in-laws Edna Cabral, Anile Perry and Eugene Gonzales. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Marc Surprenant.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Bedford.
Arrangements are in the care of Rock Funeral Home.
