Paul Boudreaux, 68 of Rochester, MA passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023. He was predeceased by parents Leroy Boudreaux and Dorothy (Steeves) Boudreaux and his siblings Ronald Boudreaux and Joyce Sciortino. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Evangelho) Boudreaux, his children Aimée (Boudreaux) Oteri and husband Robert, Jason Methia and wife Lindsey, and Lauren (Methia) Oliver and husband David. He is survived by the grandchildren he adored, Nathaniel, Jacob, Weston, Reece, Eden and Lucy as well as his faithful companion Ned. He is also survived by his siblings Gerald Boudreaux and wife Ilene and Patrice Mahoney and husband Terry. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Paul grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts and graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1972. After graduation he attended tractor trailer school and became a truck driver for the Crystal Motor Company. He attended ITT technical school where he became an automobile mechanic. It was this training that led him to work at New England Telephone. While working at the phone company he was able to finish his college degree. As the phone company changed names over the years (NET, NYNEX, Bell Atlantic and now Verizon), so did Paul as he moved up the ranks from mechanic to management eventually retiring from the company he devoted his career to.
He loved food, golf, a good joke (especially if it was inappropriate), sharing his opinion, and most of all his family. He would try anything! And if he liked it, it was the best thing he ever did. He gave everything 100%, the result of the tremendous work ethic instilled in him by both of his parents. However, his greatest joy in life was talking about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren with overwhelming pride.
For 12 years he battled cancer taking on each challenge he faced bravely. He looked at each surgery and treatment as a means to being here to spend as much time as he could with his family and friends. His family will be forever grateful for the care he received at Dana Farber. The connections he and Dot made with his caregivers were instrumental in his successful treatment for so many years. Dot and his children would especially like to thank Dr. Toni Chouieri, his nurse Michael Comeau as well as Dr. Tracy Anne Balboni, Dr. Lida Nabati, Patrick Curran, Brian Beardslee, Christina Salabao, Jen Mosgrove and Jennifer Flores. Paul’s family would also like to send our sincere gratitude to the many other doctors, nurses and support staff that Paul met during his journey at Dana Farber and Brigham and Women’s.
Paul made the decision to make an impact after his death by donating his body to Harvard Medical School so the clinicians and researchers at Harvard and Dana Farber can learn about his specific kind of cancer. Their work made it possible for Paul to outlive those that came before him and his gift will make that possible for the others that come after.
Paul's Memorial will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 12-3pm at the Country Club of New Bedford, 585 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747.
