

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Roland and Florence (Blais) DesRoches, he lived in Acushnet most of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1965 and served in the United States Navy.
He was a machinist for Titliest Acushnet Company for 42 years, retiring in 2009 and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church where he had been a member of its CYO..
He was a talented finish cabinetmaker, loved cutting wood to heat his home and enjoyed campfires with his family and friends. An avid beach goer, he especially spent time at West Island and Long Pond.
Surviving in addition to his wife: 2 sons:Adam P. DesRoches and his girlfriend Laurie Shilale, and Luke A. DesRoches all of Acushnet, 3 brothers: Conrad DesRoches and his wife Florence of Acushnet, Alan DesRoches of Fairhaven, Jerome DesRoches and his wife Jean of Acushnet,mother-in-law: Pauline Croteau and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. Funeral Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at 9 AM in St. Francis of Xavier Church, 125 Main St. Acushnet. Burial private.
