Rita D. Martin-Thorpe

Born in New Bedford daughter of the late Charles and the late Hermine (Donth) Metevier, she has resided in New Bedford for the past 30 years, Fairhaven and Acushnet prior to that.

Mrs. Martin- Thorpe had worked in Quality Control for the former Acushnet Capacitor for over ten years. She was a communicant of St. Killian’s Church in New Bedford and had been a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s.

She is survived by three sons Lawrence Martin of New Bedford, Ronald Martin, Sr. and his wife Catherine of California, Richard Martin of New Bedford; two grandsons Ronald Martin, Jr. and his wife Leighanne and Randy Martin and his wife Iris; three great-grandchildren Emmaleigh, Jack Justice and Ryan Joseph Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Graveside Service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11AM in the Sacred Heart Cemetery #2 Chapel, Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford . Visiting Hours Wednesday from 3 to 6pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Relatives and friends invited.
