

William A. Lacombe, 82, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. He was the husband of Elaine (Medeiros) Lacombe with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late George and Josephine (Bell) Lacombe, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Lacombe was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He worked in the maintenance department for Codman and Shurtleff in the New Bedford Industrial Park until his retirement.
He was an avid sports fan who played baseball and coached little league in his younger years. He also played Industrial League basketball for the Wamsutta Mills.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Peter Lacombe of New Bedford and Mark Lacombe and his wife Carla of Dartmouth; a brother, Romeo Lacombe and his wife Josephine of New Bedford; two sisters, Claire Hazell and her husband Henry and Rita Andrade and her husband Ed, all of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Carly, Alicia, Thomas and Jessica Lacombe; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 3-6pm in the Brooklawn-Chausse Dumont Funeral Home, 15 Irvington Ct., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
